Meta-analysis of 62 randomized trials finds one injectable to provide superior pain and function over the others for knee osteoarthritis.

Injectables are perhaps the most widely debated topic in orthopaedics.
Not only are their question marks on its efficacy, there are many different types of formulations and platelet doses, which often go unreported.
So what is truly the best option? And for PRP, can we use blood draw volume as a proxy for platelet dose?
In this meta-analysis of 62 randomized trials, it was PRP that came out on top. Compared to hyaluronic acid, corticosteroid, and saline:
Better pain.
Better function.
At both 6 and 12 months.
And volumes greater than 40mL were associated with larger improvements in clinical outcomes, suggesting it may be a useful alternative.
